COPD

What is COPD?

Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease aka COPD is a lung disease that results from obstructions in the airways of the lungs that lead to breathing problems. Although COPD is a progressive disease, early diagnosis and treatment may slow its progression. COPD may be complicated by chronic bronchitis or emphysema; some patients develop both problems that lead to additional breathing problems.

Some clinicians consider chronic bronchitis and emphysema as simply further manifestations of COPD.It happens when small breathing tubes in the lungs called bronchioles to become infected. This causes the tubes to clog up with mucus so there’s not enough room for air to get in and out of the lungs. It usually affects children younger than 2 years old in winter and early spring.

How Salt Therapy can help COPD

Salt Therapy is a natural non-invasive, drug-free therapy that offers relief for COPD sufferers. The inhalation of dry microscopic particles of salt that are breathed in whilst sitting and relaxing in our specially designed salt room assist the respiratory system to reduce inflammation, open the airways and clear excess congestion and mucus. The naturally found anti-histamine and anti-inflammatory properties of salt help to relieve inflammation in the airways and loosen mucus. The natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties help remove any pollutants or allergens that we are constantly breathing in from our environment, which can cause irritation in the lungs and a persistent cough.

Salt Therapy works well as a preventative treatment as we are constantly breathing in pollutants and allergens which can irritate the lungs with COPD. When our lungs are weakened, it can have a significant effect on our health. The smallest cold can result in weeks of sickness. Breathing in salt as part of your ongoing maintenance can help the body to heal faster and remove irritants fast. Salt Therapy is not a cure; it is a support for your lungs to help open and relieve inflammation and congestion throughout your airways.
